Chip is a Shareholder in the firm’s Trusts & Estates Group and Probate & Administration Group. With more than twenty years of legal experience — including fifteen years in civil litigation and more than seven years of concentrated practice in trust and estate design, probate administration, and elder law — Chip brings a distinctive combination of technical depth and litigation-informed judgment to every client engagement. His prior courtroom experience is not incidental; it shapes the way he drafts and plans, enabling him to anticipate disputes, identify vulnerabilities, and build preventive solutions into the plans he architects for his clients.

Chip works primarily with individuals, families, and fiduciaries navigating the full range of estate planning and probate matters. He counsels clients on the design and implementation of comprehensive estate plans, with particular emphasis on trust structures, asset protection, intergenerational wealth transfer, and long-term care planning. His approach is grounded in clarity and compassion — translating complex legal concepts into practical strategies that reflect each client’s goals and family circumstances.

Chip’s practice regularly includes:

• Designing estate plans using wills, revocable living trusts, and other instruments of transfer

• Advising on elder planning, charitable planning, and gifting strategies

• Representing executors, trustees, and beneficiaries in probate and estate administration proceedings across multiple Alabama counties

Chip is also a recognized continuing legal education instructor. He has presented nationally through the National Business Institute on ethics in estate planning, probate administration, and elder law, and received the NBI Outstanding Faculty Award in 2023.
