Denise Jones Pomeroy began her law practice in 1989 in Birmingham, Alabama with the law firm of Najjar, Denaburg, P.C., where she was a shareholder. In 1999, Denise joined the Dominick, Fletcher, Yeilding, Wood & Lloyd, P.A. law firm as a shareholder. That firm later became her current firm, Dominick Feld Hyde, P.C. Throughout her career, Denise’s law practice has focused primarily in the area of matrimonial and family law. In addition, over the last 15 years, Denise has become increasing involved in probate, estate, and trust litigation. As a result, Denise’s practice covers a broad range of complex matrimonial and family law matters, including both domestic, probate, estate, and trust litigation. Denise’s domestic practice covers all aspects of matrimonial and family law including but not limited to divorce, high conflict child custody, financially complex domestic litigation, complex alimony cases, division of retirement benefits, mediation, and pre- and post-nuptial planning, as well as enforcement proceedings. Denise’s probate, estate, and trust litigation practice includes an intensive collaboration with her partners in her firm’s Estate and Probate Department to combine the depth of knowledge and experience necessary to comprehensively and efficiently address highly complex probate, estate, and trust litigation matters for families facing adversity. Denise utilizes the unique skill sets available throughout the Firm to provide innovative solutions for each client.
Denise routinely drafts pre- and post-nuptial agreements and handles matrimonial cases wherein estate and trust planning, of the client, opposing party, or either ones relatives, must be carefully analyzed and appropriately considered and addressed in the specific fact scenario of that client’s case. In each instance, collaboration with her firm’s estate and probate attorneys provides unique and thoughtful legal solutions for the benefit of each client.
Denise is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and has served as the President of the Alabama Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, in 2009-2010 and 2017-2018. Denise is a long-standing member of the Alabama Family Law Association, having served on its Executive Committee. Denise is also a long-standing member of and has held various leadership roles with the Birmingham Bar Association. Denise has served on multiple Committees of the Birmingham Bar, including the Executive Committee, while serving as the President of the Women Lawyers Section of the Birmingham Bar, and the Grievance Committee, where Denise served as a Chair of one of the Grievance Committees for the Birmingham Bar Association. Denise has also served as a member of the Board of the Birmingham Bar Foundation and is a Fellow of the Foundation. Denise served the Women Lawyers Section of the Birmingham Bar Association as a Board Member for many years. Denise has further served both on the Committee of and as Chair of the Birmingham Bar Continuing Legal Education Committee and remains a member of the Women Lawyers Section and Probate Section of the Birmingham Bar Association. Denise frequently speaks at Continuing Legal Education seminars.
Denise has been recognized by “The Best Lawyers in America” since 2010 to present for her practice in Family Law. Denise has been named three years by Best Lawyers as “Lawyer of the Year,” Family Law, Birmingham, in 2012 and 2022 and 2023. Denise has been recognized by Birmingham Magazine as a “Top Flight Attorney,” and by B-Metro Magazine in “Top Women in Law” and recognized by Super Lawyers.
Denise enjoys spending time with her family, and in particular, her grandchildren. She enjoys traveling with family and friends, boating on the lake, hanging out on the beach, an excellent meal, and is always looking forward to a new season of college football.
